Testing the Buddha – A Scientific Exploration of Buddhist Claims

Can Buddhist Enlightenment be Scientifically Verified?

Many religions rely on supernatural beliefs that cannot be empirically tested. Buddhism, however, may offer unique claims that can be examined scientifically. According to Buddhist teachings, enlightenment involves achieving specific psychological milestones through meditation. Buddhists assert that these milestones are essential indicators of genuine enlightenment.

Our research aims to scientifically test whether experienced meditators indeed reach these defined psychological states. If validated, this study could offer concrete evidence supporting the authenticity of Buddhist enlightenment. Conversely, it might reveal that these milestones are not being consistently achieved.
